Pacific Eagles Athletics Society

appreciation for active and organized sports

Mr. Hardip Mann

Mr. Hardip Mann (1962-2008) Hardip Mann Memorial Scholarship BC Soccer's Tribute to Mr. Mann Voice Newspaper Condolence Book

Hardip was a leader, a visionary and always positive in promoting progressive reforms within sports. Above all, he was humble, caring and a devoted family man. He was dedicated and focused around player development rather than winning medals or trophies. He was also involved at various levels of Surrey Minor Hockey, Lacrosse and Rugby. As his own three children got involved in sports, he became a soccer coach.

Hardip led the Pacific Eagles Athletics Society organization by example, in order to promote a fun and fair play environment for all. He was especially passionate about seeing more South Asian girls participating in soccer. He was also one of the founding members of the Pumi Uppal Memorial Soccer Tournament, liaising on this with his many friends at GN Sporting and other clubs. He also initiated the United Summer Soccer League in 2007.

He never wanted to be in the limelight and always preferred to work diplomatically in the background, constantly reminding parents and coaches that “we should be focused solely on the kids and their dreams, not politics.

Hardip was a leading figure in the Soccer Community, but it is outside the soccer field, where his greatest contributions were felt. Last year, he was an integral member of the “Carter Report”, which was designed to improve the administration of soccer in Surrey and create more outreach within ethnic communities.

While he was making many plans for the coming Summer Soccer Season with his peers, destiny had something else in mind. Hardip leaves behind a rich legacy of community service, involvement with youth sports and fight for justice and equality. He will be forever remembered for his tremendous contributions to the sports community, which words alone cannot describe.

Hardip will be deeply missed by his family, many friends and the community at large. May the almighty give us courage and strength to cherish his sweet memories and keep his legacy alive!
